  1. Chris and Melissa;

    You both are an inspiration to Derrick and I. You really show us what is important in life: family, faith, and friends. No matter what the war is doing, no matter what is happening in the stock market, no matter what is happening in DC; the only thing that is important is family, faith, and friends.

    Thank you, Chris, for your dedication and loyalty to our country. Thank you, Melissa, for your love and support of Chris. Derrick and I will also pray to Michael for Chris’s protection and safe return.

    We love you both.

    Love
    Derrick and Shannon

  2. Hi Melissa,
    Thanks for sending me Chris’ mailing address while in Iraq and for including your blog address. I’ve spent this evening reading, crying, and laughing. Your entries are wonderful to read–so real and transparent. Honestly, I don’t know how you do it. Ryan, my husband, talks about how he wanted to be in the military at one point and I tell him that I could never imagine being a military wife. After reading your blog, I don’t think any mother really could imagine it. You just do it because you need to. Thank you for your service and sacrifice for the safety of our country. I’ll be praying for Chris’ safety and return home and some extra wisdom and sanity for you while he’s gone. Maybe once I get back on my own two feet (I don’t know how you manage three alone!), we can have you and the kids over for dinner. We’d love it.

    Blessings,
    Stephanie

  3. Melissa,

    You are sooo funny. But I bet the best thing you hope for is not all the stuff Chris will do WHEN he comes back from Iraq, but that he does come back from Iraq. Which is a prayer we are all sending up daily. At church we have a board and a book of rememberance. They are both for the living and the dead. We put Chris in both so everyone can pray for him as he is defending his country!!! WHAT A FANTASTIC MAN YOU HAVE MARRIED!!!! Take care and chin up and all that stuff. Love, Shannon
